CORREA (AGAIN) VOTES AGAINST IMPEACHING SECRETARY MAYORKAS
WASHINGTON — Today, after voting against articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Representative Lou Correa (CA-46), the top Democrat on the House Border Security and Enforcement Subcommittee, released the following statement:
“Let me be clear: we must keep our border secure, we must ensure migrants have the right to seek safe haven in this country like our forefathers did, and we must make sure the national security of this country is never put at risk. This sham impeachment lacks proof of any ‘high crimes or misdemeanors’—and is an obvious distraction from real border solutions that House Republican leadership has refused to let us consider,” Correa said. “This impeachment effort failed on the House floor last week with Republicans voting with Democrats against it, and is nothing more than a waste of taxpayer dollars. Our constituents deserve solutions, and Congress must finally put the political gamesmanship aside and focus on delivering the resources those serving at our nation’s frontlines so desperately need so that they can keep our communities safe.”
